During Tallahassee PRIDEFEST 2011, a new tradition began in Tallahassee! An annual drag pageant was formed – an event designed to highlight the immense talent that exists within Tallahassee and North Florida’s drag community. The process of getting into character as a drag queen or king can take hours. Each performer may aim for a particular style, impression, or unique message with their look. Drag pageants may include individual components focused on overall presentation, talent, or even a focus on evening gowns or formal wear. Drag is a truly recognizable form of art with deep roots in the history of the LGBTQ community.
